Profile Snapshot
Beginning legislative Service in 2011, Rep. Val Peterson represents Utah House's 56th District, a part of Utah county extending from American Fork to Orem. Born in Idaho, Rep. Peterson soon found Utah to be home shortly after his LDS mission in Colombia while attending Brigham Young University. At BYU, he earned his Bachelor's and Masters in Communication and eventually earned a PhD in Education Leadership while even picking up another Master's in Strategic Studies from the United States War Army War College. His career has extended far and wide starting in the Army ROTC program, then to 32 years in the Utah National Guard, and finally to settling down in Higher Education. He eventually found himself at Utah Valley University, to which he remains their most prominent advocate. He currently serves as the Vice President of Administration and Strategic Relations. In his spare time, he enjoys devoting time to his wife, Ann, and their family. You can typically find them either skiing in the Winter or any other outdoor activity when it's warmer.
