State Representative Ty Mathews is serving his first term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 83rd Ohio House District, which includes Hancock, Hardin and northern Logan counties. In addition to serving as Vice Chair of the House Veterans and Military Development Committee, Mathews serves on the Development, Technology and Innovation, and Natural Resources committees. Mathews was born and raised in the 83rd Ohio House District and shares the same core values; God, Country, Family, as so many people in the counties of Hancock, Hardin, and Logan. His previous work experience includes service as the Ohio Treasurer’s Special Assistant and Policy Aide. As a U.S. Army Infantry Officer in the National Guard, Mathews was named a “Top Rated” soldier by his commanding officers and graduated with the highest scores in his class earning the title of Distinguished Military Honor Graduate and Soldier of the Cycle. A veteran, Mathews served as a battle captain in Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He currently serves as the commander for HHC, 1-145th Armor Regiment in the Ohio National Guard.
