State Representative Steven Sainz represents Georgia’s 180 th House District, covering Camden and Glynn counties. First elected in 2018, Sainz has become a leading voice on public safety, conservative tax reform and veteran advocacy. In 2024, he was named Greater Georgia’s Legislator of the Year for his leadership on criminal justice and public safety policy, including his key role in the passage of Mariam’s Law (2023), which strengthened penalties for repeat sexual offenders. In 2025, Sainz was the author of legislation that delivered one of the largest state benefits for military retirees in Georgia history, increasing the exemption for military retirement benefits from $35,000 to $65,000 for individuals under the age of 65. Additionally, at age 65, the senior exemption, which all Georgia citizens are eligible for – also set at $65,000 – takes effect; creating a seamless transition for military families. Steven is a proud product of Camden’s public school system, graduating from Camden County High School. He attended a night satellite program of Valdosta State…
