Brown was elected to the Senate of Pennsylvania in November of 2022 after serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for six terms. Brown represents the 40th Senatorial District, which includes Lackawanna, Monroe and Wayne counties. Brown is known as an accessible, hard-working and common-sense problem-solver. She has successfully passed several laws – all with bipartisan support – throughout her service in the legislature. She initiated laws to address the excessive prescription of opioids, expand financial literacy in schools, establish protections for residents in private communities, establish free tick testing for Pennsylvanians and more. In 2023 alone, her first year as senator, Brown successfully advocated and brought more than $27 million in grants back to her district. Currently, she has prime-sponsored and initiated 25 legislative proposals, including property tax relief for seniors, roadway safety, increased access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and others.
