Reginald Murdock

Senator Reginald Murdock was elected to the Senate in 2022 and was sworn in on January 9, 2023. He represents District 9, which includes Crittenden and Phillips Counties and parts of Lee and St. Francis Counties. Senator Murdock is the vice chair of the Senate Interim Committee on Children and Youth. He is member of the Senate Education Committee, the Senate Insurance and Commerce Committee, the Joint Retirement and Social Security Committee and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee. In 2025 he co-sponsored the “Bell to Bell, No Cell Act” which restricts the use of cell phones by students. He also co-sponsored legislation that increases the homestead property tax credit from $500 to $600. He also co-sponsored legislation to provide all students with a free breakfast, regardless of their family income. Senator Murdock was a co-sponsor of Act 373 of 2025, which grants utilities greater flexibility to recover investments more quickly when they build new power plants. Other states have similar laws, and Arkansas will be more competitive in producing energy to meet future demands.
