Lewis-Ward, a Brooklyn, NY native with a solid public service and technology foundation, was shaped by an early life in public housing and public education. She holds a BBA in Computer Systems from Bernard M. Baruch College (NY) and an MA in Political Science from Clayton State University (GA). Lewis-Ward brings over 20 years of managerial experience from a New York City Transit career. After retirement, she transitioned to Georgia to continue public service. In 2014, she began her public office career as a council member for the City of Stockbridge, where she secured federal funding to upgrade two public parks with accessible playground equipment and established the first Stockbridge Citizens Academy. In 2015, Lewis-Ward founded the Stockbridge Citizens Academy, the city’s first civic education initiative to increase community engagement and transparency. Lewis-Ward has held numerous leadership positions throughout Henry County, Georgia, and across the state, including cofounding and chairing local civic and political committees, where her efforts contributed to two historic mayoral victories in November 2021.
