Chairman Morgan Meyer is a vocal leader when it comes to fiscal responsibility, education, and keeping our communities safe. First elected in 2014 and now in his sixth term as a State Representative, Morgan is currently serving as the Chair of the Ways & Means Committee. As Chair of Ways & Means during the 2023 legislative session, Chairman Meyer spearheaded the effort to pass the largest tax cut in Texas history. Chairman Meyer’s leadership was vital in passing SB 2, which returned $18 billion to taxpayers in the form of property tax relief. The bill compressed school district tax rates by 10.7 cents, supplying an additional $7.6 billion of property tax relief for ALL property owners and increased the state’s share of the cost of public education to over 50% for the first time in over a decade. The landmark legislation also added essential measures to increase transparency and accountability in the appraisal process. During his time in the legislature, Chairman Meyer has become a go-to leader for laws that protect our children against human trafficking and sex crimes.
