Representative Michael Johnson, a Democrat, represents Jackson County (District 23) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was first elected in November 2020 and is now serving his third two-year term, having been re-elected in November 2024. Johnson currently serves as the Chair of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus and holds the position of Ranking Member on two House committees. A man of distinction who became politically awakened in his youth, Johnson made a conscious decision early on to build a legacy rooted in public service, leadership, and philanthropy. His commitment to transforming lives is reflected in his dedication to both legislative progress and grassroots community engagement. Before his time in office, Johnson worked as an insurance agent and later founded his own business, Johnson Hazley Agency, LLC. The entrepreneurial spark was encouraged by his uncle, the late Charles A. Hazley, a respected Kansas City Councilman who served from 1971 to 1991.
