Senator Coleman serves on the board of directors for the Birmingham Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Positive Maturity Board in Jefferson County and serves as State Director for the National Foundation for Women Legislators, Inc., the Lakeshore Foundation, Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind (Birmingham Region), and the Alabama Head Injury Foundation. She is a member of Saint Mary"s Catholic Church, Fairfield.
