Liandro “Li” Arellano, a U.S. Army veteran and former Mayor of Dixon, was sworn in as Illinois State Senator for the 37th District on January 8, 2025. The district spans over all or parts of Bureau, DeKalb, Henry, LaSalle, Lee, Marshall, Ogle, Peoria, Rock Island, Stark, Whiteside, and Woodford counties. A small business owner, Li opened his first restaurant at 26. As Dixon’s Mayor (2015-2023), he tackled economic development and fiscal challenges. Li served in three combat deployments and is now a Squad Leader in the Army Reserves. He and his wife, Jamie, have five children.
