LARRY SATCOWITZ of Randolph was born in New York. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in philosophy and a minor in mathematics. After briefly attending graduate school at the University of Vermont, he finished an MS degree in zoology at Colorado State University where he mostly studied topics related to ecology and evolution. He then worked at the Colorado Division of Wildlife before moving to Vermont in 1999 with his wife, Jenny Davis. They moved to Randolph in 2002, where they raised their two children. Since moving to Vermont, Larry has been mostly employed as a high school math teacher, working eight years at Williamstown Middle/High School and four years at The Sharon Academy, but more recently he has taught computer applications classes at the Vermont Technical College. Along the way he has also worked as a landscaper, cashier, database programmer, and house builder. Larry is currently a member of the Randolph Selectboard, having been elected in 2017. In his free time he enjoys singing and playing guitar, loves to read about topics in science and other non-fiction, and is an avid hiker, biker, and runner.
