Senator Kim Jackson was elected to the Georgia State Senate in November 2020, representing the 41st Senate District in DeKalb County. A Democrat from the rural South, Sen. Jackson was elected to serve as Senate Democratic Whip in 2024 and has served as Co-Chair of the Mental Health Caucus and Chair of the DeKalb County Delegation. Sen. Jackson also serves as a member of the Senate Committees on Appropriations, Children and Families, Public Safety, Reapportionment An Episcopal priest from Cowpen, South Carolina, Sen. Jackson made Georgia home well over a decade ago. After graduating from Furman University, she volunteered as an EMT while earning her Master’s of Divinity at Emory's Candler School of Theology. She has worked as a college chaplain, is a nationally sought-after consultant and preacher, and serves the Church of the Common Ground, a parish in downtown Atlanta co- creating church with those experiencing homelessness.
