Josh Penner brings a wealth of executive leadership and local government experience to his role as your state representative. A lifelong resident of the 31st District, Josh was raised in Bonney Lake, graduated from Sumner High School, and continues to live and serve in the community he calls home. A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Josh answered the call to service during the Global War on Terrorism, serving as a radio operator in Iraq. Following his military service, he became an active advocate for Veterans, co-chairing the King County Veterans Consortium, co-founding the Pacific Northwest Veterans Coalition, and working to support victims of military sexual trauma. He also partnered with law enforcement to provide de-escalation training, helping officers better understand and support Veterans in their communities. As a business owner and the former Mayor of Orting, Josh brings a practical, private-sector mindset to Olympia. He established a proven record of prioritizing fiscal responsibility, public safety, and tax relief during his time in city government.
