HERB OLSON was born in 1951 in Mineola, Long Island, one of the epicenters of post-war America! His family moved to Toronto, Canada, following his dad’s work. He completed his secondary education in Massachusetts, followed by Middlebury College. He received his law degree from Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Oregon in 1976. Professionally, he worked at Vermont Legal Aid; Assistant Attorney General for the Departments of Mental Health and of Corrections; Legislative Counsel staff attorney, assisting various House and Senate committees; General Counsel for the Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration (now DFR); and for the Rhode Island Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner. His civic memberships include Mt. Abe High School Board, Starksboro Planning Commission, community youth sports, Village water system, Counseling Service of Addison County, Addison County Regional Planning Commission, Save Our (community elementary) Schools, Starksboro Historical Society, and Community MAUSD Budget Coalition.
