Profile Snapshot
I was 10 years old when I decided I wanted to be a firefighter. It wasn’t a common career path for women back then, and to say that I experienced barriers along the way is an understatement. I’ve never backed down, instead of pursuing my dream with the same passion and hard work I apply to everything I do. Every time the alarms go off as I race to my fire engine, I think of all the barriers to what we were told was possible, and then I do my best to smash them. I am a community advocate. I am a firefighter. I am a mother. I have long believed that we can work together to redefine what is possible. It is hope and joy even when it tastes like struggle and loss. It is the power of our stories, the power of our abilities to overcome and thrive, tenacious optimism, and occasional grace. It's your story, and it's mine.
