Representative Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown and Narragansett) was first elected in June 2015 after winning a special election to fill the vacant District 33 seat. She is the chair of the House Judiciary Committee. Representative McEntee is also a member of the House Labor Committee, the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, and the House Small Business Committee. In 2025, Representative McEntee expanded the “Take It Outside" legislation she previously authored addressing outdoor dining to enable the Matunuck Oyster Bar to open a tented area after a devastating fire destroyed the beloved restaurant. Three other bills she introduced also became law in 2025, including one that increases insurance coverage for hearing aids . Another bill grants the South Kingstown Town Council with the authority to enact a homestead exemption ordinance , similar to those that have already been adopted in several other communities in the state. She also sponsored a law that enables municipalities to allow for the use of co-housing arrangements as energy-efficient, low-cost housing options .
