Senator Billy Hickman, a Republican, was elected to the Georgia Senate in a special election in 2020 to represent District 4, which includes Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, and Evans counties, as well as a portion of Chatham County. A native of Statesboro, Sen. Hickman is a certified public accountant, certified in financial forensics and a 1974 graduate of Georgia Southern College. He is a partner at Dabbs, Hickman, Hill, and Cannon, LLP. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership roles, including serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Southern University Foundation, Inc., and President of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the board of East Georgia Regional Medical Center and Georgia Southern University Athletic Foundation, Inc. Sen. Hickman serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education and Youth, Secretary of the Senate Committee on Finance and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Higher Education Sen.
