Representative Ashley Aune, a Democrat from Platte County, serves as House Minority Leader in the 103rd General Assembly. Previously serving as Minority Whip, Aune was first elected in 2020 and was re-elected in 2022 and 2024. Aune’s district (14) is in Platte County and includes Kansas City, Weatherby Lake, and Lake Waukomis. As Minority Leader, Aune is an ex-officio member of all House committees -- allowing her to participate in any committee debate in the Missouri House. In her first term, Aune received a gubernatorial appointment to the Missouri Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission, where she continues to work with military and civilian leaders across the state to make Missouri the most welcoming place for active duty and retired military members and their families. Aune is currently co-chair of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Technology Caucus. Aune received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Kansas with a minor in English. Born in Colorado and raised in Kansas, Aune now lives in -- and proudly represents -- the Kansas City Northland with her husband and stepdaughter.
