April Connors

Rep. April Connors, a lifelong Tri-Citian, is serving her second term representing Washington’s 8th Legislative District. In November 2024, she was elected House Republican floor leader, where she leads caucus strategy and directs floor debate in the state House. During the 2026 legislative session, Connors led Republican efforts to stop a Democrat-backed income tax proposal, coordinating a more than 24-hour floor debate, the longest in modern state history. Her leadership and command of the floor earned statewide recognition, with the Washington State Standard naming her one of the session’s winners. Connors serves as assistant ranking member on the House Appropriations Committee and is also a member of the House Housing and Rules committees. She has been a leading voice for responsible budgeting, tax relief and policies that expand access to affordable housing. Outside the Legislature, Connors is a residential real estate professional. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Washington State University and previously worked as a legal assistant, contributing to municipal code development and working on a housing-related case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court.…
