Rep. Anthony DeSimone (D-Dist. 5, Providence) was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in November 2022. he was chosed as a Deputy Majority Leader in January 2025. He is a member of the House Corporations Committee, the House Municipal Government and Housing Committee, and the House Special Legislation Committee. During the 2025 legislative session, Representative DeSimone introduced a new law that authorizes the Providence City Council to increase the veterans tax exemption . The tax exemption, which had not risen for decades, will help provide considerable relief for Providence’s veterans. In 2024, he introduced a new law that allows municipalities, upon request by the taxpayer, to issue tax bills digitally or electronically . He sponsored another new law that entitles holders of a life estate to real property to use any veteran's tax exemptions available to them.
